Uji Efektivitas Batang Karamunting (Melastoma malabathricum L.) Terhadap Penurunan Kadar Glukosa Darah Mencit (Mus musculus) Diabetes

Abstract

        This research aims to determine the effect of the Karamunting stem extract  (Melastoma malabathricum L.) against a decrease in blood glucose levels of male mice (Mus musculus) were induced by alloxan. The research design is using a pattern completely randomized design (CRD) which is consisting of a negative group control, positive control, and the group treated with  5, 10, and 20 mg / kg weight doses of  Karamunting stem extract. All groups except the negative control get inducing alloxan 65mg / kg weight. Blood glucose levels in mice then measured using the blood sugar measuring device (GlucoDr Plus AGM 3000). Measurements were taken on day 3 after inducing alloxan, the first week and the second week  after giving treatment Karamunting stem extract and glibenclamide for the positive control treatment. The result of the research which is obtained are analyzed statistically average with blood sugar levels using test Non Parametric that is Kruskal Wallis Test to find out the real difference. The results showed that a dose of 5 mg/kg, 10 mg/kg and 20 mg/kg of Karamunting stem extract (Melastoma malabathricum L.) has not given lowering effects to decrease blood sugar levels in mice (Mus musculus) were induced by alloxan.
